Working on the Body Alone vs Working With Mind, Body, and Energy
A More Complete Approach to Healing and Lasting Change
In conventional and even many natural health approaches, the focus is often placed primarily on the physical body. This can include nutrition, supplementation, exercise, and physical treatments. These are all valuable and, in many cases, essential parts of supporting health.
However, the body does not exist in isolation.
Every physical symptom is influenced by the state of the nervous system, the patterns of the mind, and the flow of energy within the body. When we work with the physical layer alone, we may see improvement, but sometimes that improvement is limited or temporary because the deeper drivers have not yet been addressed.
This is not a limitation of the body. It is simply an invitation to include more of what is already part of you.
Understanding the Physical Approach
Supporting the body physically can be incredibly beneficial. Herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle changes can help regulate systems, reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and support overall wellbeing. Many people experience real relief through these approaches.
Yet, there are times when the body continues to hold tension, fatigue, or recurring symptoms even when everything appears to be “done right” on a physical level.
This is often where people begin to feel frustrated or confused.
The Missing Pieces: Mind and Energy
The mind and body are deeply interconnected. Thoughts, beliefs, and past experiences influence how the nervous system responds, and this in turn affects how the body functions.
In addition to this, there is also an energetic aspect of the body that many people can feel, even if they cannot always explain it. This includes the subtle flow of energy that can become restricted through stress, emotional experiences, or prolonged tension.
When emotional patterns are held in the body, they can influence physical symptoms in ways that are not always immediately obvious.
For example, ongoing stress may impact digestion, hormonal balance, or immune function. Unprocessed emotions may show up as tension, fatigue, or a sense of heaviness that does not fully shift with physical treatment alone.
Why a Holistic Approach Creates Deeper Change
When we begin to work with the mind, body, and energy together, the process of healing becomes more complete.
The body is supported physically.
The nervous system is guided back into a state of safety.
The emotional layers are given space to be processed and released.
The energetic flow within the body is restored.
Rather than addressing one layer at a time, this approach allows all aspects of the person to be included.
As a result, changes are often felt not only in symptoms, but in how a person experiences themselves. There can be a greater sense of calm, clarity, and connection, along with physical improvements that feel more stable and lasting.
How This Looks in My Work
In my work as a Qualified Holistic Herbalist and Naturopath, Reiki Master Teacher, and Energy Healer, I bring these layers together in a way that is gentle, grounded, and tailored to each person.
For some, we begin with an energetic Release session, creating space for emotional clearing and helping the nervous system settle. This often allows the body to shift out of a protective state, making it more receptive to further support.
From there, we may incorporate naturopathic and herbal guidance through my Nourish sessions, supporting the physical body with what it needs to restore balance.
For those who need a space to deeply relax and reset, Exhale sessions offer a way for the nervous system to soften through therapeutic touch and energy work.
Inspire sessions provide another layer of self-understanding through astrology, helping people connect with their patterns, strengths, and purpose in a way that brings meaning to their experience.
Each of these approaches works together, rather than separately.
A Different Way to View Healing
Healing is not about choosing one approach over another. It is about recognising that you are more than just a physical body.
When all parts of you are included in the process, healing becomes less about fixing and more about returning to balance.
It becomes a process of listening, supporting, and allowing the body to do what it is naturally designed to do.
A Gentle Reflection
If you have been doing all the right things for your body and still feel that something is missing, it may not mean that what you have been doing is wrong.
It may simply mean that your healing is asking for a more holistic & complete approach.
